Abstract
This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the distinguished exegete Sheikh Amin al-Islam al-Tabarsi (d. 548 AH) and his seminal Qur’anic commentary, Majma‘al-Bayan fi Tafsir al-Qur’an. The study begins with an overview of the author’s biography, his scholarly stature, jurisprudential and theological orientation, and a brief survey of his other intellectual contributions. The core of the research is devoted to an in-depth examination of Majma‘al-Bayan its methodological framework, structural organization, sources, linguistic and grammatical analysis, and its engagement with jurisprudential and theological themes. Particular attention is given to the exegete’s use of traditions from the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and his balanced integration of rational inquiry and transmitted knowledge. Owing to its comprehensiveness, moderation, and diversity of sources, Majma‘al-Bayan enjoys wide acceptance and recognition among both Shia and Sunni scholars. The study also underscores the work’s enduring relevance and its alignment with modern academic standards of Qur’anic interpretation. Overall, this abstract highlights Sheikh al-Tabarsi’s significant contribution to the field of tafsir, marking his work as a landmark in the intellectual tradition of Qur’anic exegesis.
